Discover the magic of Pellitory

Esfera Dourada’s Photo     The Pellitory can be found on an old wall or in a grove in the woods.

With its broad, long, dark green leaves, planted in reddish trunks, where yellowish flowers stand out, that is the Pellitory. A plant from the Urticaceae family that has a taste reminiscent of cucumber, with a slightly salty touch, whose properties are full of benefits for our body.

Pellitory is better known as Parietaria. It all depends on the region of the globe where you are because it does not develop in the poles.

Its simplicity makes it easy to find in a hole in an old wall, in the middle of rocks, at the foot of a path or in a grove of any forest. Pellitory is a fast-growing plant, almost like a weed, which can reach 30 centimeters in height when ripe.

Heat one gallon of water with 30 to 50 grams of fresh Pellitory or dried for five minutes and after cooling, it can be served.

First of all, the Pellitory should be heated for five minutes in one liter of water and, after extraction, add the liquid to the bath water. In the immersion bath, you will have to stay for five to seven minutes.

In a infusion with a little water, crush the leaves of the Pellitory with a fork, then soak a gauze or compress to apply on the affected area. This solution can be applied to fight hemorrhoids. For example, the dressing may be left overnight. Alternatively, an ointment can be created by turning the leaves into powder because it has great antibacterial power.
