Hemp is the seed of the marijuana plant (Cannabis sativa), but without the concentration of the psychoactive substance tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which causes hallucinations, delusions and delays the perception of time or space.
Its consumption has been around for thousands of years and in China, it has fed many people, and it is still possible to buy roasted Hemp seeds at the cinema, like traditional popcorn. It is considered a super food because it contains 21 amino acids, nine of which the human body cannot produce.
Consumption of Hemp oil and seeds is ideal for people with low levels of essential fatty acids, as well as for athletes and children. It is also particularly valuable for the vegetarian and vegan population, who find in hemp a complete source of protein (around 30%).
